GWAR at the House of Vans, Brooklyn NY 10/29/16

After much resting up from the GWAR show, its about time I made a post about it. First off, this entire day was incredible. Frosty and I made up some shirts for the show

\
^My favorite quote from the Skulhedface movie
WHATS A G-WAR?
Thanks Frost for holding up the shirts
We got to the House of Vans at around noon, watched blood stained GWAR slaves haul the props into the venue, and soon enough, Mr Matt Maguire came over to us and talked for a bit! Matt, it was a pleasure to finally meet you in person. You are extremely fucking cool dude. Seriously one of the happiest, friendliest people I've ever met.
Anyway, we got to see Sawborg later in the day too, oh man, it was amazing to see that costume up close. The detail on that thing is fucking incredible, and the fact that it still looks flawless after beating up Scumdogs onstage getting hit with so much spew is really impressive. It was really inspiring to see that costume, makes me want to get started on sculpting again. And someday I will reach the goal of being that skilled with costume making. We got pics with him too! Made my fuckin day

Nice towel, Sawborg

Getting there early is really rewarding, we got some kickass free Wolfbat/Blothar shirts from the venue, first people in line, got to watch the Gwar guys haul boxes and bags (poor Don had a hard time lugging his wheel-less bag) . Hahaha.

Speaking of Wolfbat, there was a bit of a twist to this show.... there was an EPIC battle between a giant wolf and a giant robot IN THE CROWD! They were all made from cardboard I believe. There were lots of decorations inside the venue made from cardboard aswell, I think there was an art exhibit (or something of the kind going on), normally the House of Vans is a skate park place. Here's a video of the Wolf and the Robot while one of the opening bands Mutoid Man plays:
Thank you Jay D Maniak for the video!

As for the GWAR part of the show, it was excellent as always, Frost and I got front row, both drenched in the blood and piss of the scumdogs and their victims. Sexecutioner made an appearance! How could he not? He's a Brooklyn local. The set was pretty similar to the GWARBQ set, which is totally fine due to the fact that I missed out on most of the GWARBQ set because I was having trouble breathing with my armor on. So this show definitely made up for that. We also got to see Jagermonsta, which is a villain that I've never seen live before. But god damn, I loooove that costume!! Its got such a silly face.

Beefcake threw one of his picks at Frost, he had no idea and it bounced right off of him (durrrrr). Luckily one of the bouncers picked it up and gave it to him though.

After the show, we talked to Matt again, told him how much we loved the show, got Sawborg signatures from him too. But also got to talk to Brent for a few minutes too, surprisingly, he knew who I was! He knew me as "the girl who does corpse paint on Instagram". That's fucking awesome. It was great to meet him too! Hope to see him again.

And of course, the obligatory after-show photos

My shirt, didn't get any pics of Frost's spewshirt, but I'm sure you can imagine what that looks like.
Still covered in spew and avoiding a shower at all costs....

Being at a GWAR show always gives me this feeling of adrenaline and an overall sense of bliss. I guess thats normal when you're seeing your favorite band. But I dunno, seeing GWAR gives me a feeling that only happens at GWAR shows. Being covered in spew is one of the greatest feelings ever, except when it gets in my eyes. But other than that BEST THING EVER. When I saw my first GWAR show, it was my first metal show, and it was so very eye-opening for me, seeing these huge monsters onstage after only seeing pictures of them on the internet before, it was the coolest thing I had ever seen, and as soon as the spew hit me, I was going nuts, I felt GREAT. I've been a hardcore fan ever since. It feels really good to have your favorite people in the flesh right in front of you, singing the songs you know all the words to. It gives me so much life.

The fact that GWAR is more than just a concert is what really draws me to it, its an entire stage show instead of just people singing. Monsters fight monsters, people get decapitated, and its a great fucking time. The creativity and fantasy of it is very otherworldly to me, when you go to a GWAR show, you are in THEIR world. I fucking love that shit. GWAR is my biggest inspiration when it comes to artwork, I aspire to create stories and bring monsters to life like that, with my own twists, of course.

After seeing this show, I am extremely inspired. I'll be working on a little somethin to wear to my next GWAR show, if you follow me on facebook, I'll be posting updates on it once i get started.

Aaaaand that's all I got. Hope you enjoyed.
